What To Understand Regarding Pet Cats

My friend's crazy about cats. She takes care of them, and even provided them a home which is part of her house. She breeds the more exotic ones and there are about 12 cats that live with her inside the house. She has built ramps, cat windows that open to an enclosed porch, cat runs, little shelves they can sleep or sit on and just about every cat product you can imagine. Their sleeping tunnels and beds are tiny. At times, my friend would send me a copy of her cat films, one in particular showing a little one sleeping along the tunnels, while another runs through the tunnel landing on the sleeping cat. It creates a big mess!

It is believed that the true origin of the cat as well as raccoons, dogs and bears is the extinct species called Miacis dating back 50 million years. They had five claws that retract just like the weasel.

Egyptians cherished their wildcats. They even train them as pets during 3500 B.C. They were immortalized in artwork for their skills in hunting and the Egyptians believe the cat's eyes held the light of the sun. Cats were highly revered during the 1500 B.C. and it was fatal for any individual takes the life of a cat. If an owner lost his/her pet cat that he/she adored so much, they trimmed their eyebrows as a sign of unhappiness, and the cat was then made into a mummy.

By the time it reached 1000 B.C., Phoenicians and Greek merchants brought cats to Europe and Asia. Their ability to search, pursue and eliminate rodents were still highly regarded of them.

In 1871, the pioneering cat show was organized in London, England, followed by the pioneer cat association in 1887. For cat lovers all over the place, it's all marked in history.

On one occasion, I had to do a job as my mother was left in the house with some ailment. My mother's friend offered herself to accompany her while I was away. Mother and Lucy were in their late 60's at the time. Mother and Lucy were already sleeping when I came back from my errands. Both were on the couches in the living room. Lucy was in deep sleep that she wasn't awoken by mom's cat settling on her chest. The cat was staring at her mouth and nose, even observing her snores. Maybe she was marveling at Lucy and was attracted to her. Each time Lucy inhaled and exhaled, so did her chest rose and dropped, and the cat along with it. I woke my mother up so she could share in this hilarious and precious moment. When my mom's friend Lucy opened her eyes, she was looking directly into the eyes of a curious cat. Waking out of a sound sleep, she thought she was dreaming until she heard the laughter - and she always remembered that nap time as the fondest of memories of my mother and talked about into her old age.

The cats have became a part of our family and having them has been gratifying, with lots of tenderness and calm moments. Their inquisitive behavior has given us many reasons to laugh and amuse ourselves. Aside from all the loving they have received in return and all the care and nutrition for their health, we could still supply them with things to amuse themselves as well as a comfortable quarter to sleep and play in. Mwow!
