Pet Cats - Facts You Should Know

My friend's crazy about cats. She takes care of them, and even provided them a home which is part of her house. She breeds the more exotic ones and there are about 12 cats that live with her inside the house. She really made the room fit for cats to live in, with ramps and enclosed porches, runs, and little shelves for them to sleep in. She even have grooming products for her cats. The cats also have their own sleeping tunnels and beds, only miniature though. At times, my friend would send me a copy of her cat films, one in particular showing a little one sleeping along the tunnels, while another runs through the tunnel landing on the sleeping cat. It creates a big mess!

They say that cats originally came from an extinct species, Miacas that goes 50 millenniums way back and so are the raccoons, dogs and bears. They had five claws that retract just like the weasel.

Around 3500 B. C., Egyptians were treasuring domesticated wildcats as their pets. Their ability in hunting were portrayed by the Egyptians through artworks. Egyptians also thought that the sunlight was enclosed in the cat's eyes. Cats were highly revered during the 1500 B.C. and it was fatal for any individual takes the life of a cat. When a beloved cat pet died, the owners shaved their eyebrows as a symbol of grief - and they mummified the cat.

Cats were transported by Phoenician and Greek traders to Europe and Asia by 1000 B.C. They were still admired for their hunting skill and ability to limit the growth of the rodent population.

London, England held its first cat show in 1871, and established the first cat association in 1887. For cat lovers all over the place, it's all marked in history.

At one time, my mother was sick, I had to do my errands. My mother had her friend as a companion while I did my errands. Mom and Lucy at that time were both over their senior years. I found them both asleep on each couch in the living room by the time I arrived home. Lucy was so sound asleep, she was snoring and mother's cat was sitting on her chest with her eyes fixed on her nose and mouth. The cat seemed to be curious about my mom's friend and found her interesting. When Lucy took breathes, the cat and her chest went up and down at the same time. It was such a funny and memorable moment that I had to wake my mother up so she could see it. When Lucy's eyes popped open, she was staring straight into the eyes of an inquisitive feline face. At first, she thought she was dreaming, but it became clear to her that she was in reality when she overheard me and mom giggling. On occasions, they recalled that most memorable experience and even into her old age.

It has been a pleasure having our cat friends around giving us adoration and serene times. Their inquisitive behavior has given us many reasons to laugh and amuse ourselves. Besides loving them back, and providing the best of care and food for their well being, we can provide things that will keep them from getting bored, comfy places to sleep and play. Purrfection!
