A Pet Cat For Each Season

A lot of cats live in my girl friend's house. It has become a safe haven for them. My friend had no problem with it since she is so into them. She allowed cats that looked unusual to mate. At present, she has about twelve cats dwelling in her place. Like a little house small enough for cats to stay in, she made it with the ramps, windows, and covered porches. There are also runways for cats and rooms using little shelves. If cats have beauty products, she had those as well. They have little sleeping tunnels and beds. Sometimes she will send me a video of one them sleeping in a tunnel, thinking she is hidden - and then one of the younger cats comes racing through it and pounces on the one who WAS sleeping oh so soundly and peacefully. It is a riot!

It is believed that the true origin of the cat as well as raccoons, dogs and bears is the extinct species called Miacis dating back 50 million years. They had five claws that retract just like the weasel.

During the time of 3500 B.C., the Egyptian people also had pets of their own and these were tamed wildcats. Egyptians commemorated their hunting abilities by molding art works of them. They also felt that the cat's eyes possess the sunlight. Cats were regarded as something very holy, so anyone who was guilty of killing a cat, was sentenced to die as well. This was observed during the 1500 B.C. If a dearly loved cat died, its pet owner expressed their sorrow by having their eyebrows shaved and the cat mummified.

Europe and Asia had cats only during the 1000 B.C. when the Phoenician and Greek merchants carried it to the place. They remained to be awed for their knack for hunting and curbing the rodent populace.

It was in Europe where the original cat show was held, during 1871 in London, England. By 1887, the first cat association was instituted. And for those who so much love cats, the rest is in the past.

There was one time before, I needed to do some task away from the house but my mom was not feeling well. My mom had a friend who said she could keep my mother company so that I could go where I needed to go. Mom and Lucy at that time were both over their senior years. By the time I was back from my walk, I saw them on each couch lying sound asleep. Lucy was in deep sleep that she wasn't awoken by mom's cat settling on her chest. The cat was staring at her mouth and nose, even observing her snores. I guess she was wondering what this new purring creature was that fascinated her so. Each time Lucy inhaled and exhaled, so did her chest rose and dropped, and the cat along with it. I woke my mother up so she could share in this hilarious and precious moment. As soon as Lucy woke up herself, she gazed at the cat's curious eyes. Waking out of a sound sleep, she thought she was dreaming until she heard the laughter - and she always remembered that nap time as the fondest of memories of my mother and talked about into her old age.

It has been a pleasure having our cat friends around giving us adoration and serene times. We are entertained and amused by their prying actions. Besides loving them back, and providing the best of care and food for their well being, we can provide things that will keep them from getting bored, comfy places to sleep and play. Mwow!
